Mushy peas are ace!

My sweetheart and I had a late start on Monday and didn't want to venture too far from home, so it was the perfect opportunity to head to the famous Ace Cafe by the North Circular for some traditional English grub.


Despite the fact that the Ace is a short drive from my house, we bussed it, which meant that it took a *little* longer than anticipated, and we had to endure rowdy teenage banter for part of the journey...

On arrival we got straight down to business and ordered food - I got fish & chips and Aaron went for the steak & ale pie (good choice, and something I think you've got to try if you are visiting England) both complete with mushy peas (another must for the tourist). The food was tasty and plentiful and all enjoyed to the sounds of rock 'n' roll playing in the background.








The Ace Cafe is synonymous with motorcycles and rock 'n' roll, first opening it's doors in 1938. I went to see an exhibition about this iconic joint a couple of years ago at the Brent Museum, and it's really interesting to find out about its history and how it went from being just a roadside cafe to a thriving live-music venue and a hub for bike and car meets.




We will be going back on the 29th January to check out the All American Cruise-In, which takes place on the last Saturday of each month - I'm sure there will be pics to follow!
